From Breakthroughs to Legacy

In September, we welcomed more than 100 women across two Sydney events, bringing our community together for conversations centred on the future, from advances in medical research to the legacy we leave behind.

Across both events, women came together to learn, connect and gain practical insights on topics that touch many lives.

Breakthroughs Redefining Cancer Research and Care

We were delighted to welcome Dr Christine De Nardo, Chief Operating Officer of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute, for a conversation exploring the breakthroughs redefining cancer research and care.

Christine shared insights into the advances changing the way cancer is detected and treated, from personalised therapies to emerging research creating new possibilities for patients. She also spoke about the personal experiences that shaped her connection to this work and continue to drive her passion for improving outcomes for those affected by cancer.

The discussion provided valuable insights into both the complexity of cancer research and the progress being made through innovation, collaboration and ongoing investment, leaving attendees with a deeper appreciation of the work being undertaken to improve patient outcomes.

The event also created an opportunity to give back. Through a raffle held on the day, we raised $932 for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute, supporting its work developing innovative cancer diagnostics and treatments that address real-world clinical needs.

Planning Your Legacy

Later in the month, Alteris Women hosted Planning Your Legacy, proudly sponsored by CMPartners.

We were pleased to welcome Lisa Barca, Partner at Turner Freeman Lawyers, who shared practical insights drawn from her experience in estate planning and elder law. Through personal stories and real-life case studies, Lisa explored the importance of protecting yourself during your lifetime, ensuring your wishes are carried out and navigating the complexities that can arise within modern family structures.

The session reinforced that legacy is about more than wealth alone. For many, it is about ensuring the people and causes that matter most are cared for.

In addition to the meaningful discussions, our community generously supported The International Alliance for Women (TIAW), with $1,040 raised through the event raffle. The funds will help advance TIAW’s work empowering women and creating opportunities for women globally.

Creating space for what matters
